艺术家受法国蓬皮杜艺术中心邀请参加了一个艺术交流项目，艺术家在考察场地时，留意到在艺术中心的外面有很多在街头画像的中国艺术家，然后顔磊将这一场景进行了拍照，并将其转换在其画布上。艺术家希望借此发问：什么是艺术？同样是艺术家，为什么他们的作品终其一生也进不了蓬皮杜艺术中心，虽然这中间只有一墙之隔。
The artist was invited by Pompidou Centre to create work for an art exchange program. While exploring the area outside of the museum, the artist noticed there were many Chinese street portrait artists. Yan Lei decided to photograph the artists and to transfer the image onto canvas. The artist wanted to ask the question: what is art? But also to raise the related question of the wall that denies these artists an opportunity to show their work inside the art centre.
